The feel of an ice cube melting over time.

what i wore: Cotton On tank top, Penshoppe swim shorts, Ginga flipflops, Fly sunnies, borrowed bandana

Too lazy to post anything lately, must be the weather.  It's so hot, summer's toasting the entire city on a daily basis and all I can think of is the beach!  So here's a quick outfit post!  Photo taken two weeks ago during a not so holy week in Bantayan Island, Cebu.  I am so hippie happy this summer!  Apologies for the bad quality, didn't want to carry my camera on our way to buying supplies for our camp and it was high noon.  My mobile phone surely came in handy!

That night I danced until I can dance no more.

i was going for that trashy/grungy hippie look.  trust me, i have no idea what i was doing.
my accomplices for Sinulog weekend! for the love of edm & having a good time!
the stage, what i came there for- AN21&Max Vangeli, the massive crowd, and one crazy edm worshipper
kick out the epic motherf*ck#r!

My obsession with electronic dance music is pretty much neck & neck with my addiction to the beach.  I would occasionally find myself watching the Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival aftermovies like they're big hollywood blockbusters.  And by "occasionally" i mean i watch it everytime i get a chance to which is quite often.  Yeah I know it sounds crazy, but i am crazy!  I would watch it over and over again hoping that when I go to catch some zzz's, I'd dream about actually being there, wasted and dancing like it's nobody's business.  And then I see myself & my friends waving the Philippine flag getting captured by the camera in slow motion like in the aftermovies.  I'd fist pump, stomp my feet, bang my head, til i can do no more.  I'd lose my voice from screaming the djs' names every time they step on stage to spin.  Aoki, Skrillex, Hardwell, Chuckie, Swedish House Mafia, Guetta, Avicii, Alesso, Laidback Luke, Zedd, Porter Robinson, are just some of the names I'd let out in a loud deranged scream.  But just like these festivals and the aftermovies, these dreams always come to an end and i'd wake up a loser.

The EDM gods must have pitied this loser.  A week ago, on Sinulog Friday, an epic outdoor dance party called LifeDance hit Metro Cebu.  I missed the first installment last year when i decided to go that crappy summer-ender beach party and I still recall bitching about it for months.  I wasn't going to miss the event a second time.  This probably was the closest thing to Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Fest!  Yes i know it'll pale in comparison with the other international music festivals for now but it clearly has the makings of becoming something massive- the place was packed!  I have to say I was not disappointed, I had a blast!  From the venue, the stage, the technical stuff (audio, lights, etc.), the staff, even down to the comfort rooms.  You can tell this thing was carefully thought of and planned.   And oh the dj's!  I loved each and every one of them- from the local dj's (loved all of them! made me dance even when no one else did! lol) to the international acts!  I danced 'til my legs got sore.  That's how hyped i was!  Thank you LifeDance!  Encore this summer maybe?  LOL

Wore the same pair of denim cutoffs from LifeDance on Sinulog day.  I have a fetish for worn-out, ripped, torn denim.  Guess I was right, this diy denim shorts just became my new fave!  From where I'm from, this Sinulog festival is the festival of all festivals.  People from all over the world country swarm the streets of Cebu for this annual revelry.  So you have to dress for the occasion- comfort over style.  In my case, I think I did both!

DIY Distressed Denim Cutoffs

all you need is an old pair of jeans, scissors, tweezers, patience & a little creativity!

the not-so-before and after shot
music festival ready!

"Stop! You have done enough damage!", screams this old, fugly, pathetic pair of jeans. The thing even called me "sadistic" at one point. Well, you should be thankful I revived you back into fashion life! And guess what, you might just have become my new fave pair of denim cutoffs!

And it was a very cold and plaid Wednesday.

FASHION | Escape to where the sun never hides.

The only thing I like about the rainy season is that I get to layer my clothes.
And it's raining buckets as I'm writing this post.
Uggh! I hate rainy days!
It makes me crazy lazy.
End of post.

Hello beach! I'm back!

I just survived two months of all work and no play. By play, I mean going out of town+heading out to the beach+getting drunk. It's a known fact amongst my circle of friends that I have a problem- my addiction to that piece of heaven called "beach". When summer ended, I promised to check myself inside an imaginary no-beach rehab center. Two months of no beach seem short if you drown yourself in work. The formula was simple: work+home daily. It was simple and it made me sick in the head, it made me hallucinate. LOL Two months is all I can take and its become clear- I had to relapse. I had to make my way back to the beach or I'd go nuts! (this is an exaggeration of course!) Hey beach! It looks like we're going to see each other a lot again! Did you miss me? hehe

Mayhem and the dancefloor.

The past days have been nothing but work. Sleep, eat, work, eat, sleep- has become a daily routine with the exception of weekends being- sleep, eat, sleep. This formula has been proven to be very effective if you're trying to get obese, not the direction that I'm going for. Since I'm too lazy to hit the gym, I've been trying to eat less. Hopefully, this will do the job. My weight, however, should be the least of my worries. Last week, mayhem hit the office when my boss asked me to join an emergency meeting along with some of my peers. Word got out about some plans of cutting the number of members in the team. I kind of saw this coming since this has always been the case since I joined the team. What I didn't see coming was the plan to cut the number of heads into half. After coming up with a back-up plan, we were told to keep our mouths shut to avoid causing panic in the team. Just like show business, people talk about other people in our office and most of the time, its nasty talk. Eventually, almost everyone in the team knew about the sad news the next day. You can pretty much predict what happened next- chaos. End of story.

On a lighter note, I finally had a chance to see one of my good friends from overseas after three years. Thanks to this little thing called webcam. I hate online chats but we chatted for 2 hours or so. Oh God we miss each other! And then I got an invitation to help her cross out one of the items in her bucket list- go to Koh Pangan's full moon party with her and party like crazy this 2012. She said all I have to worry about is getting myself a roundtrip ticket and she'll take care of the rest. I said yes to the invitation but really, there's so much to worry about than just getting a roundtrip ticket- if I can go on leave from work for a week, money for the roundtrip ticket, pocket money and passport (yes! I do not have a passport). Fingers crossed, I will be in this trip!

Happiness is only real when shared.

I would never have thought that I would get myself inked, let alone get a tattoo on my back right on top of my spine! It’s not even like I’ve been itching to get a tattoo my whole life but just did not have the courage to or has not been allowed to. Trust me, I have high tolerance for pain so courage is out of question and parental consent has never been an issue. I’ve never been that crazy over tattoos and I have not even tried its substitute- henna. I don’t really know what came over me; I guess this is a result of my plain love for art in general. About three or four weeks ago, a good friend told me that she and the BF were planning to open a tattoo studio near the BF’s place. I felt like it was the perfect timing for me to try it out. After weeks of openly talking to my friends/officemates about my intentions of having my back inked, it finally happened last Sunday! Turns out, another friend who has been dying to get a tattoo since I-don’t-know-when, was very eager to have his ink done that weekend and insisted I tag along. I was already sure about getting a tattoo anyways so I didn’t really bitch about getting it done this soon.

Sunday felt like a movie in fast forward. I remember getting in a cab with my friend, he was telling me how nervous he was and how the day’s activity felt like going to a ghetto place to do drugs, I responded by saying that I was also nervous but I felt more like I was on my way to the dentist than doing drugs just because I’ve never been a junkie my whole life. And then fast forward- we were in a cab again, on our way home, proudly talking about how we survived getting inked, talking about the pain and pleasure, how we were both in disbelief that we finally had ourselves eternally marked. Credits roll along with the soundtrack (U2's Bloody Sunday) playing in the background of black. I wake up and it’s a Monday and I’m a little hung over. Sunday’s events begin playing in slow motion and I start filling in the gaps. Everything in between the fast-forwarded scenes is flashbacks of pain and pleasure.

My tattoo’s almost completely healed as I'm writing this and now I feel like I carry a constant reminder in my back. Right below my zodiac sign says “Happiness is only real when shared.” Yes, that’s taken from Jon Krakauer’s book, Into the Wild, which chronicles the life of the vagabond Christopher McCandless. That phrase stuck to my head after I read the book and has since become a personal mantra. I agree with the guy, unshared happiness is really not happiness at all. It’s called something else; you all know what that word is. I'm happy with how things turned out. The tattoo looks nice and I didn't have to deal with infection. I'm surprised because it healed really fast! Planning to get a tattoo soon? Please check out my friends' tattoo studio- Wicked Ink!
